It has been just 4 years since Spotify was officially launched and has been improving in my hometown. I still remember the day it appeared on google play to download, I was extremely excited because I had heard about its amazing features and had been waiting for it for so long. Well, Spotify didn’t let me down with its scope which isn’t just playing music but about discovery, curation, and social interaction too. Therefore, I think it’s more than a music streaming service and I would call it a social media platform. Why?

Let me tell you the reason that Spotify became a product I can live without.

Reason 1: Playlists made for me

Due to my favorite genre of music and listening habits, Spotify will customize for me 3-6 "Daily Mix" playlists every day and update "Discover Weekly" every Monday. The daily mix is a well-mixed collection of many songs I’ve already known and usually listen to as well as some new tracks of the same type. Therefore, with each type of music I like, there will be a “Daily Mix” for it. For example, Daily Mix 1 is for Mandarin pop, Daily Mix 2 includes acoustic tracks.

Unlike Daily Mix, Discover Weekly is a unique mixtape of fresh deep cuts chosen just for me with a more general focus. Thereby, I’m so excited that I can get 30 new catchy songs at the beginning of every week. That’s also the reason why I have more than 800 liked songs in Spotify. 😊

Reason 2: My 20XX Wrapped

The second thing that Spotify impress me most is the “Your 20XX Wrapped” campaign. Each user can get their Spotify interactive infographics about their listening habits such as the top 5 artists, the most favorite songs, how much time they have spent listening to Spotify, etc. With those statistics, users can know more about their “music personality” and share those with their friends through the Instagram story with eye-catching design.

Reason 3: Music connection

Users can connect their Facebook account with Spotify and then follow their friend's playlists. In the desktop app, Spotify allows me to see my friend who is online and listening to some new songs. Moreover, I can create a mutual playlist where my friends and I can add their favorite tracks to share and listen to those songs together. It’s quite like Facebook that you can see other’s posts and share content with friends.

My friend created a playlist called “For Chau Anh” and added songs that he thinks I will love. I think this is so meaningful and amazing.

I agree with you that Spotify is good for finding music that suits exactly to you! It's nice especially when I listen to music that's not mainstream and I can find some great artists with similarities to the artists I already listen to. It is interesting that it can count as a social media platform but it indeed can, since we can connect with others there as well! Nice post🤗
