How I get inspired from my role model?

I had been thinking about this topic for a while, and it was on my list for a few weeks but now I decided to share with you guys who my role model is and how I get inspiration from them. MCP course’s post-task about reporting a famous person I’m interested in reminds me of Tamypu, the most famous illustrator in Vietnam and of course, my role model as well.

I found it so interesting that a very strange person on Instagram can have huge positive effects on my critical thinking, my lifestyle, and my art style.

So let’s take the look at who she is.

TAMYPU aka THAI MY PHUONG

Visual storyteller | Author | Influencer | University lecturer | Social activist

Tamypu is the “pen-name” of Thai My Phuong, a prolific artist and storyteller who illustrated more than 17 children’s books and over 250 book covers. She has also authored and created the artwork for numerous publications and commercial companies like Nestle and Samsung. Despite a full schedule, she still manages to mentor the next generation of art talents as a lecture at the Graphic Design Department at HCM University of Architecture.

But why she is my role model and how she inspires me ?

Let’s go back a few years. My passion for art and design has developed from a very young age, all came from gorgeous drawings and designs on the covers of romantic novels and bedtime books I read every day. At that time, I was really impressed with a book called “Be With You” with its cover is illustrated by Tamypu as I found that illustration extremely creative and meaningful. Since then, I am passionate about telling stories and conveying messages through drawings and paintings.

After that, I followed both Instagram and Facebook pages of Tamypu to support and learn experience from her career path. Those pages mainly revolved around showing her commercial artworks and book-cover illustrations and sharing her in-depth knowledge as well as working experiences for everyone. Her sharings have always been really useful and effective to me. Especially every time I got lost and lack the motivation to make effort, ll look up to Tamypu and her stunning illustrations and be inspired by her achievements, her talent, her persistence, and boldness.

Additionally, she also updates and writes blogs about her daily life and life observations. There, she talks about events and situations she has been involved in and all her thoughts and reflections. Personally, I love the way how she respects what she has, enjoys every moment of life, and is honest to her own emotions. Furthermore, she taught me many valuable lessons and professional experiences that I applied to my own life.

To sum up, Tamypu is a passionate artist who has a huge positive impact on my own life and motivates me to try hard to achieve my dreams. What I admire about her is not only her talent and achievements but also her personality: the way she carries herself, the way she treats people, and the way she faces and overcomes challenges in life with critical thinking.
